Le Passing
Located beneath Court no. 1, "Le Passing" is again serving as the tournament’s official sandwich shop this year. Soft bread or ciabatta, hot or cold, stuffed with shrimp or ‘coppa’ sausage, the choice is vast: the traditional "sandwich mixte" has some serious competition this year!
Fancy a nibble?
L'Affiche, a subsidiary of Sogeres, takes care of the catering needs of such varied groups as the players (and their entourages), the media, the organisation personnel, and last but certainly not least, the public. Visitors to Roland-Garros now have around twenty catering points to choose from, dotted all around the stadium:
The Roland-Garros gardens
Offering a Mediterranean ambiance, this small green oasis situated in the forecourt of the CNE (opposite court nos. 7 and 9), boasts no less than 500 seats! What’s more, there’s nothing to prevent you from reclining in the shade of the olive trees… On the menu (and for an average price of €18): lamb brochettes or beef sandwiches, Asian-style salmon pave, and a whole menu inspired by five continents.
La Terrasse
If you’re in search of a haven of peace, head for "La Terrasse" (200 places), located under the south stand of the Suzanne-Lenglen court. Savoury tarts, sun-drenched pizzas or crispy grills all await you.
Refreshment stands
Apart from “the gardens of Roland Garros", "La Terrasse" and "Le Passing", the alleys of the stadium are packed with stands and stalls, under the "Bars et Cie" label. Ten stands will offer fare combining sweet and savoury dishes, farandole of sandwiches and a wide range of breads to tubs of cherries.
Disabled
There are numerous facilities at Roland-Garros to give disabled persons access to the courts. In addition to the 20 existing places at the Philippe-Chatrier and Suzanne-Lenglen courts or the eight at Court no. 1, wheelchair-bound spectators can also be accommodated on court nos. 3, 4 and 5 (four places). To facilitate access to the outside courts located behind the Suzanne-Lenglen Court, a path has been marked out within the stadium running alongside the Boulevard d'Auteuil.
Locker
A locker has been set up between court n°6 and Suzanne-Lenglen court. Obejcts can be safeguarded for the day: € 2 for an article of clothing or a cap, € 3,5 for a bag or briefcase and € 5 for a big bag or a pushchair.
La Poste
The gallery of the Philippe-Chatrier Court’s Stand B houses a post office, open each day between 10:00 and 19:00. No less than 1,000 letters leave the stadium each day. This year, the postmark will be in the image of the Tenniseum.
Medical service
Three infirmaries are open to the public for the duration of the tournament:
- at the Philippe-Chatrier court, access via the gallery of Stand B
- at the Suzanne-Lenglen Court, under the east stand
- Court No. 1, opposite the Village
No less than seven emergency first-aiders and eleven nurses will be based at these three points for the benefit of the public.
Culture tennis
In the event of rain at Roland-Garros, or should you wish to take a breather between two matches, why not take a detour via the Tenniseum, the Roland-Garros museum? The original multimedia tennis museum, this 2,200 m2 space houses a permanent exhibition room, a multimedia area where highlights of classic matches from past tournaments can be viewed, two themed exhibition rooms where you can see "Art Grand Slam de Paris" (an artistic and sporting collaboration between the former champion Martina Navratilova and the Slovak artist Juraj Kralik), and a multimedia library. Like last year, spectators can enter the Tenniseum free of charge.
BNP Paribas branch
A BNP Paribas mini-branch, complete with bureau de change, is located in the gallery of Stand B of the Philippe-Chatrier court. From Saturday 27 May until Sunday 11 June, the bank’s customers can carry out all their day-to-day transactions there. From Thursday 25 May, customers of other banks who possess a Visa or Eurocard Mastercard banker’s card will be able to withdraw money from the four cash dispensers within the stadium. Two of these are situated in Gallery B of the Philippe-Chatrier court close to the BNP Paribas branch, while the other two are in the Place des Mousquetaires, near Courts 4 and 5.
Additional entertainment
During the French Open, the main attraction is most definitely on the courts, but the alleys of Roland-Garros are also full of life. Within the entertainment area, young and old alike are invited to discover the fun activities coordinated by partners of the tournament.
